The objects (vases and lamps) of the series Pila are an unconventional assemblage of different plates from the Rosenthal Studio Line. In everyday life, plate piles are created unintentionally and for pragmatic reasons: piled for washing up in the sink or stashed in the cupboard. The design Pila demonstrates that the clash of forms, stories and time can develop a completely new aesthetic dimension: the objects allow for various designs of different designers of the Rosenthal Studio-Line to enter into a dialogue. In direct encounter they pronounce the potential of this grown collection. The individual plates become part of the whole – a new form. The perception of the singular plates changes in the overall context. Each object is unique. Each time a different selection of plates is piled in a new combination. In this way, the most different characters are created: stringent compositions, lush towers or even figurative forms. They display the range of Rosenthal’s porcelain designs: from a simple service to a gushing decor and an unconventional relief. Die Objekte (Vasen und Leuchten) der Serie Pila (ital. Stapel) sind eine ungewöhnliche Assemblage unterschiedlichster Teller der Rosenthal Studio Line. Tellerstapel entstehen im Alltag meist unbeabsichtigt und mit pragmatischer Absicht: zum Abwasch aufgetürmt in der Spüle oder zum Verstauen im Geschirrschrank. Der Entwurf Pila zeigt, dass das Aufeinandertreffen von Formen, Geschichten und Zeiten auch eine ganz neue ästhetische Dimension entwickeln kann: In den Objekten treten die verschiedenen Entwürfe unterschiedlicher DesignerInnen der Rosenthal Studio-Line in einen Dialog. Über das direkte Zusammentreffen prononcieren sie das Potenzial dieser gewachsenen Kollektion. Die einzelnen Teller werden zum Bauteil eines Ganzen – zu einer neuen Form, die Wahrnehmung eines einzelnen Tellers verändert sich im Gesamtzusammenhang. Jedes Objekt ist ein Unikat, die Teller werden jedes Mal in einer neuen Auswahl und Kombination aufeinander gestapelt. So entstehen unterschiedlichste Charaktere: strenge Anordnungen, üppige Türme oder gar figürliche Formen. Sie zeigen die Bandbreite der Porzellanentwürfe Rosenthals: vom schlichten Service über das überschwängliche Dekor hin zum ungewöhnlichen Relief. In den Leuchten kommt den Tellern nun noch eine weitere Funktion hinzu: sie werden nicht nur zum Bedeutungs- und Geschichtsträger: sie fungieren auch noch als ungewöhnliche Reflektoren der Lichtquelle und die Dekore der verbauten Teller modulieren und färben das Licht dieser Lichtobjekte in zarten Kupfer- und Goldnuancen.
