The pendant lamp TYP is a reinterpretation of Wilhelm Wagenfeld’s design for the lamp M/Typ 54 from 1931. Of this design presumably not one single specimen still exists : there are only some photographs and drawings left over.
Through the reconstruction of the lamp the idea of the intermeshed glass parts and their quality becomes visible in the physical object. The lamp TYP tries to adapt the idea of using different glass parts to build a specific light container.

The pendant lamp TYP is part of the project „Wagenfeld revisited“ in the context of the exhibition „Lamps of the Modern Era“. The design takes up the container-like quality that is found in Wilhelm Wagenfeld’s design (Modell 2462/M/Typ 54) of 1931 and starts a new interpretation of it. The glass parts of the lamp are intermeshed with each other so as to make a light space come about as a result. The M/Typ 54 lamp had three parts too, while each of the three glass parts differ not only in form, but also in materiality of the glass.

Die Pendelleuchte TYP ist Teil des Projektes „Wagenfeld revisited“ im Rahmen der Ausstellung „Leuchten der Moderne“. Der Entwurf nimmt das Gefäßhafte des Wagenfeld-Entwurfs (Modell 2462/M/Typ 54) von 1931 auf und interpretiert diesen neu. Die Glasteile der Leuchte greifen ineinander, um einen Lichtraum entstehen zu lassen. Auch die Pendelleuchte M/Typ 54 von Wilhelm Wagenfeld war dreiteilig aufgebaut. Jedes der drei Glasteile unterschied sich nicht nur in der Formgebung, sondern auch in der Glasmaterialität.
